The obverse of the center medallion had a gold crowned "L" cipher (for the founder King Ludwig II) on the black-enameled center and the word "MERENTI" on a ring of white enamel edged in gold (later silver-gilt)

Here we have a lovely Napoleonic Era French flintlock pocket pistol, marked CHERON on the lock and A PARIS on the top of the half octagonal barrel. We have not been able to find any information on this maker, however there were many working in Paris at the time which to this day remain unidentified, which is unlikely to change in the future. The pistol is small and easily concealable, the design being essentially a
